Natural Resources Magazine Names Jim Irving Industry Person of The Year

Natural Resources Magazine’s third annual Industry Excellence Awards has named Jim Irving the Industry Person of the Year.

“Mr. Irving was named Natural Resources Magazine’s Industry Person of the Year in recognition of his ongoing commitment to, and investment in, sustainable forestry, local employment, innovation and industry leadership,” said Dawn Chafe, Executive Editor. ” In the opinion of our judging panel, which was comprised of editorial staff and external industry experts, Mr. Irving’s win is not a recognition of a particular accomplishment in a singular year. Rather, it celebrates a lifetime of industry leadership and innovation including an unprecedented commitment to reforestation and environmental protection, to the extraordinarily long-term vision encapsulated in 80+-year plans that are evident throughout the operation, to a continuous investment in staff and community. Stora Enso signs global commitment to combat plastic pollution

Stora Enso has joined the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment to eliminate plastic waste and pollution at the source. The Global Commitment and its vision for a circular economy for plastic is led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, in collaboration with UN Environment. For Stora Enso, signing the commitment is another step to combat the global problem of plastic pollution by providing renewable alternatives. Stora Enso will contribute by cooperating with customers and suppliers to develop circular and low carbon solutions to replace plastic packaging. The materials are based on wood fibres from sustainably managed forests and plantations. Especially when we speak to consumers via our Love Paper campaign. The awareness of the Love Paper campaign is growing. We are continually seeing more visitors to our website (lovepaper.org). This year to date, we have had 15,000 website visitors, 30,000 website page views and gained over 2,500 social media followers.
