Rapak® North America Achieves ‘Excellent’ Score on SQF Certification Audit for the 4th Year in a Row

Rapak North America, a business unit of DS Smith Plastics and market leader in Bag-in-Box packaging and filling systems, announced today that two of their facilities located in the United States of America, achieved excellent scores of 98 out of 100 points on the new SQF, Edition 8.0 certification audits last month. Rapak has continually scored ‘E’ for Excellent at all locations since 2015.

The SQF, Edition 8.0 Food Safety Code for Manufacture of Food Packaging certification is a company-wide initiative to supply safe food packaging products and a requirement of Rapak’s top key customers within the food industry. Receiving an Excellent score on these audits validates the commitment and dedication of Rapak employees to supplying safe products to their customers.

The annual preparation for the audit is an ongoing process of internal audits, employee training and following daily safety practices:
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) training twice a year
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) daily
Sanitize equipment daily at the start of each shift

The SQF, Edition 8.0 Code requirements are benchmarked food safety standards to the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). SQF is an international mark of excellence for certified suppliers and a standard that is currently used by food suppliers in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the Far East, North and South America and Australasia. At a time when individual consumers, consumer advocate groups, and governments are demanding safe, quality food, an SQF certification provides a competitive advantage to suppliers like Rapak North America. Rapak plans to continue to maintain this level of superior results and meet any additional customer specific requirements in the future.

Virox Technologies Inc. and Diversey, Inc. Sign Deal to Bring The Next Advancement in Sustainable Disinfection to Healthcare Professionals

Virox Technologies Inc., a leading innovator of patented, sustainable disinfectant chemistries, today announces that it has finalized multi-year licensing and supply agreements with Diversey, A Solenis Company, to bring its latest patented disinfectant technology, Citr-IQTM, to the healthcare sector and others. Diversey is a leading provider of hygiene, infection prevention and cleaning products, and technology, and will add multiple disinfectant products, powered by Virox’s Citr-IQ, to its lineup of professional offerings. AHP was created by Virox in 1998, and successfully transformed disinfection with a safe, effective, and sustainable patented chemistry. AHP is used across the globe in human and animal health sectors and is the active ingredient in multiple brands, including Diversey’s Oxivir® and Accel® infection prevention platforms.

American Forest & Paper Association Releases August 2020 Containerboard Monthly Report

Total containerboard production in August remained essentially flat (+0.4 percent) compared to August 2019. It was up four percent when compared to the same eight months of 2019. August 2020 production of containerboard for export decreased nine percent compared to the same month last year; it was up 23 percent year-to-date. The containerboard operating rate was 92.1 percent, essentially flat (-0.4 pts.) from August 2019 and up 2.7 points year-to-date. Mill inventories of containerboard at the end of August increased 35,000 short tons from the previous month and were up 68,000 short tons compared to August 2019.
