TC Transcontinental Packaging Launches New Sustainable Packaging Website Section

TC Transcontinental Packaging, the packaging sector of TC Transcontinental (TSX: TCL.A TCL.B), is proud to announce the launch of a new website section on sustainability and flexible packaging. The section is available at www.tc.tc/packaging/sustainability and is accessible through desktop and mobile.

The content has been updated to share with clients and consumers the benefits of flexible packaging, including its positive impact for the environment. It is modern, engaging and full of resources. From TC Transcontinental’s 2025 commitment to a 10-step journey to create sustainable packaging, the new website section sets out what brands and CPG’s need to consider to help them achieve their sustainability objectives.

Coca-Cola Europe to Use Westrock CanCollar Eco for Multi-Packs

Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) announced the introduction of WestRock’s CanCollar® Eco, an innovative paperboard packaging solution, for multipack cans in Spain. The move supports its work, in partnership with Coca-Cola in Western Europe, to remove all unnecessary or hard to recycle plastic from its portfolio, avoiding the use of more than 11,000 tons of virgin plastic a year across the region. WestRock partners with customers to provide sustainable and differentiated packaging solutions that will resonate with consumers. The CanCollar Eco design is based on learnings from commercializing CanCollar® Classic in the U.S. craft beer market since 2017. Initially, Coca-Cola European Partners will launch the new paperboard CanCollar® Eco in the Balearic Islands in November 2020, a first in Europe.

Sealed Air Reports Q1 2021 Results

Net sales of $1.3 billion increased 8% as reported. Currency contributed $25 million, or approximately 2%, to net sales as compared to first quarter 2020. Net earnings in first quarter 2021 were $106 million, or $0.68 per diluted share, as compared to net earnings of $115 million, or $0.74 per diluted share, in first quarter 2020. The effective tax rate in first quarter 2021 was 34.0%, as compared to 22.2% in first quarter 2020. The current year effective tax rate was unfavorably impacted by legislative and administrative changes to enacted foreign statutes.
