UPM listed on the CDP Nordic Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for the 7th time

UPM has achieved a top position on the Nordic Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for the high quality of its climate change related information. UPM’s score was 99 out of 100. This is already the 7th time in a row that UPM is listed on the CDLI.

Top scores indicate a high level of transparency in the disclosure of company’s climate change-related information, such as data regarding carbon emissions and the use of energy. Top scores tell investors and other key stakeholders about company’s accountability and preparedness for changing market demands and emissions regulation.

The CDP Nordic Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) classifies the companies according to their activities to reduce emissions. UPM’s reduction percentage was not high enough to reach A level, but the result A- indicates the overall decrease in UPM’s emissions and a good result as such.

“Our bio-based products enhance the shift from non-renewable to renewable, carbon neutral resources. We drive innovative business solutions in technologies, resource efficiency and production,” she continues. “Our most important raw material, wood, comes from forests that are significant carbon sinks. Therefore using wood from sustainably managed forests is one of the cornerstones of our climate strategy,” Salpakivi-Salomaa concludes.

Best Buy Joins Campaign to Improve Package Recycling

The I Want To Be Recycled campaign, a national initiative between Keep America Beautiful, Stamford, Connecticut, and the Ad Council, with offices in New York City and in Washington, have announced a new partnership with Best Buy, Richfield, Minnesota, designed to remind consumers to recycle shipping and product packaging during the winter holiday season. The initiative will include customized packaging design that emblazons "I Want To Be A Pizza Box. Recycle Me." on all orders shipped from BestBuy.com and drives consumers to learn how to properly recycle at www.IWantToBeRecycled.org. The boxes that incorporate this messaging will be used to ship Best Buy products nationwide starting in November 2016. Best Buy also will promote this partnership with Keep America Beautiful across social channels upon launch. The I Want To Be Recycled campaign is designed to educate and engage people to understand the how, what, where and why of recycling, demonstrating in an array of ways and through varied platforms that individuals can “Give Your Garbage Another Life.”

Costco joins How2Recycle and the Sustainable Packaging Coalition

“Costco’s private-label brand encompasses a diverse portfolio of product categories. By joining How2Recycle, Costco is empowering their members to properly prepare a wide array of packaging types and materials for recycling. Costco is well poised to help recover large quantities of material by featuring consistent, accurate recycling messaging on package,” said Caroline Cox, How2Recycle project associate. Costco will be rolling out the label on a variety of packages including Kirkland Signature Organic Raw Kombucha Ginger Lemonade, Baby Wipes and Facial Wipes.
