Quad/Graphics closing 365-person Waseca plant

Wisconsin printing company Quad/Graphics Inc. will shut down its plant in Waseca, Minn., putting more than 330 people out of work.

KSTP reports on the announcement by Quad/Graphics (NYSE: QUAD), which said that about 30 employees at the 365-person plant would stay on to support area clients, but the bulk of the plant’s work will be shifted elsewhere in the country.

The plant was originally owned by Waseca-based Brown Printing Co., which Quad/Graphics bought in 2014 in a $100 million deal. Brown employed about 750 people in Waseca at the time.

The company closed another former Brown Printing plant in St. Cloud in 2014 after the deal closed.

Quad/Graphics still has about 57 plants and 22,000 employees. Its local operations include facilities in Shakopee and Bloomington.
